Nutmeg State Games 2010 July 24th - August 1st
TORCH RUN
The Torch Run ONLY takes place when the Nutmeg Games moves to a new City and begins in the previous one.
2008
The Nutmeg State Games will make a running start into this
summer’s Olympic events. In 2006 and 2007, the "Games" brought back an old Olympic
tradition by including a Torch Run that kicked off the Games on the day of
Opening Ceremonies. This years' Torch Run will begin with a brief ceremony, which will include the introduction of the runners. The Torch Run will
begin in Bridgeport (previous Host City) and and end at Danbury High School
Stadium where the opening ceremonies of the Games will be
held. The Torch Run participants will take part in the Opening Ceremonies and
the lighting of the Cauldron, officially announcing the start of the "Games"!
The Torch Run will be managed by the Nutmeg State Games, the Fairfield County Sports Commission
and the Housatonic Valley Sports Organizing Committee. All three organizations are a 501(C)(3)
Not-For-Profit which strive to create a positive environment for athletes to
grow physically, mentally, and emotionally.
