    • Weigh-in, Check-in & Late / On-site Registration

    • Juniors (5 – 16 years old):  9:00 – 10:00 A.M.

    • Seniors (+17 yrs.) & Masters (+30 yrs.):  9:00 A.M.– 12:00 P.M.

    • Nage no kata teams:  9:00 – 10:00 A.M.
       

  • JUDO Opening Ceremonies:

    • 10:30 A.M. Sun., Aug. 1st

    • Junior Competition and Kata begins immediately after opening ceremonies.

    • Senior and Masters Competition begins at 12:30 P.M.

    • Onsite Registration Fee: $40.00

  • Selection Process:

    • Events are open to all Connecticut amateur athletes who register with the Nutmeg State Games Office. The Nutmeg State Games reserves the right to cut the competition in the event of over subscription.
       

  • Tournament Director:

    • May add, combine or eliminate divisions in the interest of safety and fairness for all participants!
       

  • Rules:

    • Current IJF rules will be used with the following modifications:

    • No drop-knee seoi nage for juniors.

    • No shime waza or kansetsu for yonen (12 and under).

    • Shime waza is allowed for shonen (13 to 16 yrs.), but kansetsu waza is not allowed in any junior divisions.

    • Shime waza is allowed for all senior (+17) and masters divisions.

    • Kansetsu waza is allowed in senior and all master divisions.

    • Juniors, (13 – 16) and non-black belt seniors who wish to compete in brown and black belt senior divisions must have signed certificates regarding non-black belt contestants.

    • No contestant under 13 will be allowed to compete in senior divisions.

    • No mixed gender matches will be allowed for anyone over 8 yrs. old.

    • Junior and masters matches:  3 minutes; senior matches:  5 minutes

    • Golden Score will be in effect for all matches.

    • Light, medium and heavy weight divisions will be determined upon completion of weigh-in. 

    • The tournament director reserves the right to add or modify divisions in the interest of safety and fairness to competitors.  For example, a super-heavy weight or super-light division may be added if appropriate.

Registration Information & Fees:

  • Registration/insurance fees total $30.00.

  • You may register On-Site the day of the event – Sunday, Aug. 1st for an additional $10.00 fee.

  • Registration forms will be available on-site

  • All registration/processing/insurance fees are non-refundable and must be paid before an athlete is eligible for competition.

  • Proof of USJF, USJI or USJA and expiration date must be provided

  • Nage no kata competition is open rank, age and gender. 

  • Method of Competition: 
        Round-Robin for divisions of 4 or fewer
        Double Elimination for divisions of 5 or more
        Awards:  Nutmeg State Games medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd; ribbons for all others.
        Overall Trophy for top point clubs in yonen, shonen and seinen / masters divisions:   
        1st = 5 pts.; 2nd = 3 pts.; 3rd = 1 pt.
